Diets Don't Work

23-02-2009

By Ian Piggott

Plain and simple!! Sorry to those of you reading this that are on some kind of diet or eating plan such as weight watcher, slimming world, weight matters or anything else but your quiet simply wasting your time and money on doing something that is not benefitting your weight loss goals. The media tells us we must look a certain way to feel good about ourselves or to get the look of our favourite celebrity, in order to do this we must follow some god awful diet or stupid eating regime.

Most of which are absolutely crazy. It seams that every time some one famous has a new look there is a new diet to follow. This is just so crazy its funny. There are, something like 18,000 diets out there to choose from and growing in number all the time. I have to ask if diets really worked wouldn’t there just be 1 type of diet to get you results? Diets don’t work for the simple fact they change nothing about how your body works. Diets dictate what and how much of something you put into your body.

When it comes to getting fat loss results nutrition is a major factor and the first thing you should look at changing. It is important to eat in the right way to help ignite your metabolism, which diets don’t do. Diets only focus on cutting out fat or carbs and lay down that you cant have this and you can’t have that stopping you from taking in vital micro-nutrients. Rarely do they go into detail about the most effective ways to combat your slow metabolism with the food you eat.

My Philosophy on this is everything in moderation and simply be more aware of where you get your nutrients from. Diets that I have personally tried have shown me a general loss of between 2-8 lbs in weight and this is great until I put it back on again about 3 months later and I am sure its is the same when you too are doing a diet.

One of the most important aspects when changing the way you eat is to boost your metabolism. This is the rate at which your body burns energy at rest and diets don’t help change this one bit. This can be slowed down by lack of exercise, not eating enough, eating foods that contain lots of sugar and saturated fat and just by getting older. We want to fire up metabolism and start burning as many calories as possible at rest so we're lean and looking good right?

One of the most effective and proven methods to control calorie intake, boost metabolism and help you to lose fat is by eating 5-6 small meals per day everyday not just Monday to Friday.

By taking in small healthy meals every 3-4 hours will help prevent the body from going into starvation and storing most food intake as fat. This is wonderful as the body is getting nutrition so frequently and in small quantities the body is less likely to store excess calories as fat and will be more likely to give up stored energy for fuel in and after exercise.

This method has show time after time to help boost your metabolism help maintain good energy levels and help you lose fat.

  • Yes it really does work!
  • No you wont get fat!
  • No You don’t have to cut out your carbs!
  • Yes you can eat after 6pm and still get a great body without having to sacrifice your health!

Any personal trainer, nutritionist or dietician worth your money will advise you on this method.
